Iowa State Cyclone here...FYI, our mascot is a bird because our school colors are CARDINAL and gold. We are the Cyclones because the headline after beating a good Northwestern team in Chicago, the Tribune headline was, "Iowa Cyclone Devastates Evanston." I know it's confusing, but it's not just random.

I used to hate sequels. I used to really despise the idea of the movie makers in Hollywood not being able to come up with any original, fresh ideas or, milking a good movie for all that it's worth.

but now, i understand why they work. I'm excited for The new indiana jones movie because i grew up on indiana jones. I loved the adventure and suspenseful action he'd go through. (and the funny lil moments he has too, remember when that guy was doin all the fancy sword moves, and then indiana just pulled out his gun and fired?? classic.)

anyways, like many of the extra installments of movies that happen these days, they make money because it's a revival of characters that we, the audience, know and love. and i'm all for that.

I participated in the Day Of Silence and got in several 'discussions' (obviously, I wasn't speaking, nor was most of the group) about the purpose and worth of a day of silence. I think it's wrong to consider the day worthless: it is mostly symbolic, and a fairly reactive, passive response, but it got people talking about gay rights and hate crimes, which should have been the point. By accomplishing that, the day should be considered a success. I think the Adam & Eve, Not Adam & Steve was fairly ridiculous: A) Who has not heard that before?, and B) The Day Of Silence is not about gay marriage. Day of Silence is about hate crimes and oppression, and I don't know how anyone could stand against that.

I thought it was pretty cool of a lot of students to stand up for what they believed in. However, I just want to say that it really made me mad when people would say bad things about the supporters to their faces, because they obviously couldn't speak up for themselves. It isn't fair to be treated unkindly for supporting something you believe in. I admire everyone who went the whole day without talking, and really showed their support : )
